Function Description | A group of exosomal circRNAs are upregulated in the plasma of GC patients, and one circRNA (hsa_circ_0010522) was named ciRS-133 (circular RNA sponge for miR-133) for its potential interaction with miR-133.?Moreover, plasma exosomal ciRS-133 was positively correlated with BAT levels.?An in vivo study demonstrated that exosomes from GC cells enhance PRDM16 expression and activate UCP1 in pre-adipocytes and accelerate the metabolic rate of mature adipose cells.?The exosome-delivered ciRS-133 regulates this process by absorbing miR-133 and up-regulating PRDM16.?By analyzing oxygen consumption, heat production and the mass and morphology of adipose tissues in mice, we showed that knockdown of ciRS-133 in cancer cells significantly reduces metabolic disorder caused by gastric tumors.?Hence, secreted onco-circRNA delivered by exosomes plays a key role in aggravating tumor cachexia by regulating WAT browning. |
